In this section, we explore the various ways in which we can design, plan out, and animate (prototype) Interactive elements in a Menu based video.

Design

  • Create Colour Palette
  • Compose and Design 3 successive Menu screens in Illustrator / PS.
  • Menu 1 > Select option > Menu 2 > Select option > Menu 3 > Select option
  • Each Comp must have (at least) Type and AI/PS Illustration. 
  • Consider Transitions. Create Transition design frames for clarity.
  • Key aspects in preparing a design file for animation // All elements on separate Layers.
  • Show: “Year / Month / Day” 01 Design.ai and 02 Prep A and B.ai

Animation

  • Import “Year / Month / Day” 01 Design.ai and 02 Prep A and B.ai
  • Create Markers and set Work Area.
  • Set “Placeholder” stills on Timeline.
  • Illustration: Convert Illustration artwork to Outlines
  • Interactive elements: Design Control system for each Interaction. 
  • Create individual timeline for each Interactive scenario: Element IN, Element OVER, Element SELECT, Element OUT. Time Remap Start to End of each.
  • Parent / Null objects relationships to connect layers
  • Collect Files

  2. Select back to year of your Birth
  3. Select 1982
  4. Open Menu 2: Month
  5. Roll Over 1, 2, 3 and then 4
  6. Select 4
  7. Open Menu 3: Day
  8. Roll Over 1, 2, 9, 16
  9. Select 16
